Oster 4207 Electric Wine-Bottle OpenerReviewsThis product worked well for me for three months, and then it failed consistently. The failure is that it drills into the cork and then stops. I do not recommend this product. This product works great. Pulls the cork out perfectly every time. Quite fun to use. We leave it on the stand so it is fully charged all the time. Highly recommend over any other style, even the well-known rabbit ears product. This just can't be beat. We are very happy with this product we've used it about 12 times or so and it removes synthetic and cork stoppers effortlessly. Couldn't be happier. I purchased the wine opener believing that it was like the previous ones purchased. This one does not pull out the cork, you have to pull it out with the opener. It does 'undo' the cork so you don't have to unscrew it. I love this wine opener. Unfortunately, I didn't see the wax covering the cork on a bottle of wine and the wax got stuck way up in the opener. Being a handy type person, I opened the unit up and pulled out the wax. Not I can't get it back together where it will work. :( My advice: don't tear it apart. Average Rating:![]() |

Vin02 -Wine Aerator-Award Winning Design- (See Image Gallery)ReviewsI recently purchased two of these based on the reviews. One was given as a gift and the other for my personal use. The gift receiver called me to inform me that he noticed a significant improvement in the taste of the red wine with the use of the Vin02, and that we should get together to compare taste differences. To date, I have not done so, but will in the near future. As for mine, I will be using it after the Lenten season. Just received the other day. My wife and I are red wine drinkers and red wine always taste smoother with the proper aeration. Taste tested on my wife and she immediately noticed the smoothness of the wine, the bouquet much more alive and just an overall refreshing taste vs. the wine without the aeration. It is smaller then I imagined but does the job and looks good on the wine stand. The down-side is that it does make somewhat of a noise (air flow into the vents for the aeration) so no more sneaking alone into the kitchen at 3 AM to have a glass a wine :-)...just kidding. Spend the $20....you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Wish I had made the purchase sooner. This product works and it seems to function better than others I've seen that cost more. Honestly, get this one and use the money you save to buy yourself a nicer bottle of wine. It just seems to be better designed than the others I've bought or been gifted in the past. I got this as a Christmas gift and had great fun trying wines with and without aeration, it worked very well reducing the tannins. I generally decant a bottle of red 45 minutes to an hour before I pour it and in restaurants I almost always have problems with servers who don't understand the benefits of getting air into the wine. It has a great grip, the wine to pass through easily at a medium pour and has a very convenient stand. I would suggest this product to anyone who enjoys red wine as it make a huge difference. I bought several as gifts for friends who also enjoy red wine. A friend of mine had the Vinturi wine aerator red/white wine set and it worked well so I looked around to buy it. Then I saw this one. It looked pretty cool and was a bit cheaper $20 vs $26 for Vinturi, so I bought it. It works just as well I guess but it seems to allow the wine to flow through a little faster than the Vinturi so I wonder if it aerates as well or not. One thing I noticed was that Vinturi has a little mesh that filters the wine (if it's got cork in it or something) but this one does not. Vinturi has a separate red/white one and they claim that theirs has different aerating settings. I don't know if it matters THAT much but it's nice to have one for each red/white wine so that you don't have to wash and dry it for different wines. Or I guess you could just buy two of these too. Anyhow, I'm overall happy with the purchase, it seems to work well and do what aerators do, namely aerate the wine much faster than pouring it into a big vase aerator thing. It's also gadgetty so that's fun. Average Rating:![]() |

It is a well known fact that red wine needs breathe and thus open up to releasing its aromas and creating a smoother finish. The VinO2 wine aerator incorporates art and style while expediting this process... |

Songs From the Heart [DELUXE EDITION] [BONUS TRACKS+CHARM+CALENDAR]ReviewsThis CD is excellent. Dare I say the best Celtic Woman CD yet. I don't know, they are all so good. I am definitely glad I got the Deluxe Edition. The calendar and charm are cool, but really I got this version for the extra songs. Well worth it. The extra songs were from the live recording of the Songs From The Heart DVD. The only trouble is that after hearing those live recordings you will probably want the new DVD also. You certainly won't regret that purchase either though. It was a stunning performance! All the songs on this CD are awesome. There's nobody else that can sing together the way Celtic Woman do. There are songs that make you want to dance along to the rhythm, and then in the next instant, you're wanting to sob your heart out. Worth every cent!!!! It looks as if this new hit from Celtic Woman has debuted at the top of the World BillBoard charts and appears destined to repeat another of their record-breaking runs there as experienced by their earlier releases. If you were among the millions of Americans who saw the broadcasts of Songs From The Heart from among the thousands of broadcasts from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (PBS) stations across the nation, you should know this is the music from that show. Celtic Woman is presently at the start of a nationwide tour in which performance of these numbers may be seen live. If you liked their prior releases, such as A New Journey filmed in 2006 at Slane Castle in Ireland, you will certainly love this! Filmed at the castle at Powerscourt, County Wicklow, Ireland in July 2009, it has all the elements we have come to the love of the group, created under the direction of the group's creator and musical director, David Downes, whom many regard as a genius from the body of his work thus far and his many fantastic accomplishments, which appear far beyond what one would normally expect of one of his years. If you care at all about this group and their music, you will certainly want to get it and having done so, will rue that you waited so long to do so! Celtic Woman never ceases to amaze me with their beautiful harmonious voices and lively music. The added bonus song "O America" brings tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. I am rating this only four stars because some of the best songs they did at Powers Court are not on the album and can only be obtained from Amazon through the MP3 download sales. Other than that, it is a great album. Average Rating:![]() |

A New Journey (Deluxe Package w/bonus tracks + Irish charm)ReviewsThis CD purchase was a Christmas gift to myself and it has already become a cherrished favorite. I'm particullary fond of the fiddle solos, especially Shenandoah. Anyone who likes music with taste and class will like this CD. Every note, every phrase touches me and lifts my spirits. I am a big fan of Celtic Woman, and have been wanting this CD for quite some time. I had especially wanted "At the Ceili" and "Spanish Lady", two of the bonus songs. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the front insert had all of the words to all the songs. That may not be important to everyone, but it definitely matters to me. The charm is nice, and it comes with an explanation of the claddagh, but it's nothing impressive. If you want the extra songs, it's a great buy. If you don't care either way, get the regular CD - it much cheaper. For me, despite its being way more expensive than the basic A New Journey CD, I think it's worth it. This is a tremendous CD and I am looking forward to their new CD to be released early 2010. A New Journey started my trip down a great inspirational belief that 5 Irish women can bring peace and harmony to everyone. I bought this as a gift for a girl friend with an Irish heritage. She loves it. Wonderful to listen to. They stick in a different sound (other than Celtic) now and again, but not so much as to take you away from Ireland or Scotland. Average Rating:![]() |

Second only to Riverdance as an international Irish showbiz phenomenon, previous installments of this Platinum-selling extravaganza have become beloved PBS standards. The original buxom quartet of female singers, Lisa, Maev, Orla, and Chloe, have duly been joined by Hayley and are, as usual, backed by a full symphony orchestra and choir, plus enough traditional instruments (the house fiddler, Mairead, is a powerhouse) to keep things legit... |

Reading Rainbow FavoritesReviewsI bought these DVD's for my 7yr old. I read to him all the time and he's always walking around with a book in his hand. He really enjoyed the DVD's but I was disappointed. I expected to hear the ORIGINAL theme song from the 80's. What you get on the DVD's in the newer version of the song from the 90's, I think, which SUCKS. Other than that the DVD's are great. I bought this item for a gift. Although my great-grandson is too young right now for it, I am sure he will enjoy it in years to come. I know his mommy was thrilled with it. I appreciated the swift shipping of it. I purchased it for my daughter and ourselves. we're not sure if she would like it or not, but she loved it. It's very sad to see this show off the air after 26yrs. Hopefully this company would produce more dvd sets for those love and enjoy the show. I bought this to show my 2nd grade class. Reading Rainbows, in general are tops, but some are better than others. I like 3 out of the 4 DVDs,(but for the price, it is worth it even for the 3). I judge this purely by my class, they were not wild about the DVD that pertains to music. One of the episodes on that one is an older one, and honestly we didn't even finish it, but if I remember, it didn't use the typical Reading Rainbow format. All the other episodes in this collection were a big hit though, and the DVD with Taxi Dog on it was worth it right there! The favorite TV show of my children was Reading Rainbow. The explanation to go with each story, the tours of factories to show how something was made are memories they carry today. I purchased this set for my Grandchildren as we can't even find reruns of this spectacular childrens program. My daughter can delight is telling her children about her favorite Reading Rainbow stories - two of which are in this set. The facts Lavar Burton presents to the children are remembered. They do think about the whales and mannatee - two favoriet topics for a library trip. Average Rating:![]() |

Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie [VHS]ReviewsIn this savage satire of the upper class, six wealthy friends attempt to enjoy an evening meal together. They are inevitably foiled by an unlikely series of events, each blurring the line between fantasy and reality. The friends are often heartless in their complacency. When the ambassador of the fictional Miranda tells his friends of a Nazi war criminal hiding in his country, the others seem mildly interested. Apparently, he was a real butcher. A woman interjects: "Does he like dogs?" There are several laugh out loud moments, and Bunuel mixes in a healthy dose of social commentary. An entertaining ensemble of supporting characters often make surprise revelations, drastically changing your impression of a scene. In one, a woman leads a Father to the bedside of a dying old man. Before going in, she stops him and makes a confession: "I've always hated Jesus Christ." As the film approaches its finale, Bunuel explores the medium between dreams and real life. Several of the friends experience nightmares playing on their fears and desires. The six actors give depth to their characters, and the viewer gets an admirable portrait of each. Bunuel's genius is evident throughout. 4.5/5 Luis Bunuel's major theme in this film is showing his dislike for the 'bourgeois' segment of society. A similar theme was shown about 5 years after "Discreet Charm"'s premiere, although more playfully, in Bunuel's "That Obscure Object of Desire." In what seems to be a dreamlike scene in "Discreet Charm", a group of defenseless 'bourgeois' friends is machine gunned without reason. Did the director think the friends deserved the punishment? "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" unfolds with the absurd logic of a recurrent dream, and since the DVD has been beautifully restored, one is able to dream the dream in vivid color: Elegantly dressed guests arrive for a dinner party only to have the hostess inform them that they have arrived on the wrong night; thus, they keep making appointments for dinners that are continually interrupted for one reason or another--all of the reasons being as patently ridiculous as are the characters: a bishop, who arrives at the house and asks to be hired as a gardener, and then relates the story of his macabre childhood; a soldier, who arrives at a restaurant (that has run out of tea and coffee), asks to join the ladies, whom he has never met before, and relates the story of his macabre childhood; a General, who arrives with his platoon a day early at the same house with the same hostess in time for dinner, and then, after the General invites a Private to relate the story of his macabre dream to the hosts and the invited guests (who listen attentively), both General and platoon depart for maneuvers (but not before inviting all the guests to his house for dinner, where even more macabre events unfold.). Thus, the dreams contain dreams within dreams within dreams within dreams within dreams et cetera ad absurdum. This film is for anyone who has ever had recurrent nightmares of waiting for a bus on the wrong corner; of being about to take a test only to discover that one has studied the wrong subject; of being about give a lecture only to discover that one has forgotten the notes; or of performing on stage with a mouth stuffed with peanut-butter when one's cue is coming up. All the absurd commonplaces that make perfect sense when one is dreaming. And much of the "discreet charm" of the bourgeois characters in this film derives from the fact that one is dreaming their nightmares and not one's own. This is arguably Buñuel's best film. Described as "a complex, shifting, virtually plotless web of dreams within dreams within dreams," Luis Buñuel's 1972 Academy Award winning surrealist film, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie) chronicles five derailed dinner parties of a group of three affluent Parisian couples, intermixed with four dreams dreamt by different characters. The sextet of friends includes Rafael Acosta (Fernando Rey), François Thévenot (Paul Frankeur), Simone Thévenot (Delphine Seyrig), Florence (Bulle Ogier), Alice Sénéchal (Stéphane Audran), and Henri Sénéchal (Jean-Pierre Cassel). Although they constantly arrive for dinner parties, they never actually eat. Whether they arrive on the wrong night, or there's a corpse in the next room, their plans are always thwarted by some absurd complication. Meanwhile, secrets involving adultery, perversions, boredom, hypocrisies, military maneuvers, and drug smuggling are revealed beneath the surface of their "polite," bourgeois facade. Buñuel breaks all the narrative rules in this film. Dreams interrupt scenes and unpredictabile surreal twists interrupt the film's narrative in a way that might be described as Monty Python at its most extreme. While other filmmakers are retired at age 72, Buñuel was at his charming best. Criterion's two-disc edition of this masterpiece includes a new high-definition film transfer, El náufrago de la calle de Providencia (The Castaway on the Street of Providence, 1970): a 24-minute documentary homage to Buñuel by his friends Arturo Ripstein and Rafael Castanedo, A propósito de Buñuel (Speaking of Buñuel, 2000): a new 98-minute documentary on the life and work of Buñuel by Jose Luis López-Linares and Javier Rioyo, the original theatrical trailer, and new and improved English subtitles. Highly recommended, must-see cinema. G. Merritt One of the Spanish master's funniest films, the Oscar-winning "Charm" gleefully savages the manners and mores of the upper crust, employing bizarre plotlines and fanciful farce to attack the well-heeled scions of respectable society as vain, decadent, elitist, and thoroughly amoral. Rey, Seyrig, and New Wave icon Ogier head the stellar ensemble cast, with Julien Bertheau standing out as a pompous, not-so-holy bishop. Buñuel's dream-within-a-dream sequences, which involve ghosts, terrorists, and sundry other characters, are simply brilliant, and bring this sublime, extended joke to the verge of divine absurdity. Bell, Book and CandleReviewsHas there ever been a better actress to play a witch so wickedly glamourous? Could another actor be an unsuspecting boob so perfectly? Or have two of the biggest bumblers as relatives? Happily not! Kim Novac delivers a completely believeable performance as Gillian, the beautiful lonely witch who wants a "normal" life and can anyone top Jimmy Stewart as her clueless prey? These two should have done more movies together! As for the supporting cast, Elsa Lancaster (better known as the "Bride of Frankenstein") is perfect as Queenie, Gillian's aunt, Jack Lemmon in a surprising role as Gillian's beatnik brother who befriends a writer (played by Ernie Kovacs) and offers him an "inside look" at the witchcraft crowd, the head of which is none other than Hermione Ginghold (in a particularly hilarious scene with Jimmy Stewart - his facial expressions are priceless). This movie offers comedy, sadness, sweetness and a tiny bit of spooky plus a very crossed-eyed Siamese named Pyewacket. Great movie to see anytime of the year but certainly Halloween and Christmas fits best. This was not the first movie produced with this kind of storyline (Veronica Lake in "My Favorite Wife" for instance) but altho made in the 50's still holds it's own today. Even the fashions are timeless...as is this love story. So Ring the bell, close the book and light the candle - you may find yourself humming a little tune to your own cat or putting out all the street lamps just for fun! Average Rating:![]() |

GE Security 001859 AccessPoint Stor-A-Key Locking Key Case, GrayReviewsI just got the key-case, as after locking myself out once, I thought it would be a good thing to have. Well first the package came with no instructions whatsoever, but I don't worry as I am usually quite good with that sort of items. Well... not with the GE apparently. I rotated the "reset" wheel once and put it back to its original position, WITHOUT changing the code: I just wanted to see how the reset would work. Now I can't open the stupid box. Again I did not even change the numbers. So I have no idea what happened, and now it's locked! Absolutely stupid!!! Also, now that I got the item in hand, I can tell that the quality isn't great anyway: it's plastic, and would be really easy to break and get whatever's inside. Don't waste your money with that one. I purchased this device to store keys so I couldn't lock myself out of the house. It's small, but it fit two standard keys. I like the combo lock, but it only has three numbers. Not a real problem, but different from most locks of this type. This is a great idea. Unfortunately, the case is made out of plastic. Though I did not test it's strength, it seemed like someone with a large rock could liberate the contents. The other issue I found was my Honda ignition valet key was too long to fit in the case. I'm really not sure what product testing folks wouldn't have tried to put a key in a key lock box, but there you have it. Personally, I mutilated my key by snipping off the back part of the plastic handle (where the hole is to be put on a key chain), so that it would fit, because I'd rather have a key that works attached to my car in the event that I need one. If the team could create a metal version that's 1cm longer, this would be awesome. I used this for a couple of years, knowing that it was more of a psychological deterrent, because the case could obviously be busted open if someone wanted in my car badly enough. This was proven when the combination lock quit working, and I had to break into it to retrieve my key. Also, for my key to fit into it initially, I had to saw off the top part of it. As other reviewers have noted, for an item intended for a security application, this keybox isn't just flimsy, but borders on fragile. I was able to break it open in less than a second with my bare hands. As thieves tend to look for easy targets, this box won't even slow them down. I take that back -- a potential thief will waste several seconds, laughing. Then your car or your things in the car are history. If the manufacturer made it in metal, with close tolerances and a weather seal, I'd buy it. But although it looks tough and capable in the photographs, this is nothing more that a novelty item for a gumball machine. Average Rating:![]() |
